President Biden Announces New Immigration Executive Orders

Immigration

June 18, 2024

In response to President Joe Biden’s recently announced executive actions on immigration, Héctor E. Sánchez Barba, President and CEO of Mi Familia Vota (MFV) released the following statement:

"Today is a great day for our country, as we are finally getting some relief for our immigrant familia. Remember, it was immigrants who led the way in this fight. We organized in 2020, helped propel Joe Biden to the White House, and now have fought for this critical executive order win.

When we met with the President three weeks ago, we advocated for him to take action with an executive order. And now, with this action, he has kept all the promises on Latino Priorities that he made to me at the town hall in Las Vegas when he was a candidate.

These executive actions are an electoral winner. At a time when Donald Trump is quoting Hitler, he says that immigrants are poisoning the blood of the nation, promising to separate families, and wants to create a mass deportation force. Today, the president's bold leadership is a stark reminder of these two candidates' significant differences on this critically important issue.

This executive order will positively impact Dreamers, undocumented spouses, and children of U.S. citizens. These actions will allow them to remain and work in the country legally and allow them to adjust their legal status.

President Biden's actions are a win for American families, our communities, our economy, and our country, and are politically popular."
