WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives rubber stamped the extreme version of the Big Ugly Bill that passed in the U.S. Senate, which will force millions of people to lose health care and medicaid coverage, slash SNAP benefits, and add massive funding to break up families through ICE Raids and detention.

Hector Sanchez Barba, President and CEO of Mi Familia Vota, issued the following statement:

"Today’s vote on final passage of the Big Ugly Bill in the House of Representatives was a rubber stamp by the Republican majority of the Senate’s extreme version of the bill, and a slap in the face of the millions who will lose health care coverage, SNAP benefits, and whose families will be torn apart by aggressive funding of ICE detentions. Mi Familia Vota’s mission is to build Latino power, through year-round activation of the electorate, and we will work tirelessly to make sure our communities connect the dots between the Big Ugly Bill and today’s vote to their loss of vital services and health care, and that they exercise their civic duty to hold those elected officials accountable. We will continue fighting for a future where Latino voices shape and advance policies that promote the health, safety, and prosperity of Latino communities across the country, and we will make ourselves heard on this big, ugly, abomination of a bill."
