Washington, D.C. – Leading to the 100 days in office, Trump is once again criminalizing the immigrant community to fuel hate and division in our nation. In response to his latest desperate attacks, Hector Sanchez Barba, President and CEO of Mi Familia Vota released the following statement:
“Four months into Donald Trump's second term, his presidency is already a failure. How do we know it is a failure? Because, now as he is facing public rejection, he is resorting to tired political stunts like lining the White House lawn with the images of incarcerated undocumented immigrants. This is a desperate tactic to distract the nation from his collapse as president.
Let's be clear: Trump continues to position his anti-immigrant agenda at the very center of his action. Trump's inhumane attacks on law-abiding, tax-paying immigrants are both morally repugnant and deeply unpopular with the American people. We know this because in just four months, Trump has reached historically low levels of unpopularity with voters. Recent polls continue to show that the majority of Americans do not favor Trump's toxic economic and immigration policies.
He is resorting to these stunts to distract from how unpopular his administration is and the fact that his policies are hurting workers and immigrants alike. It’s shameful. Especially as we approach May day, a day to honor workers, many are immigrants who continue to build and sustain this country.
Mi Familia Vota rejects these attacks and proudly stands with immigrants. Our communities are not just contributors, they are the foundation of this country and we will continue to stand in the front lines fighting for the dignity, respect and rights of Latinos and immigrants.
This is our call to action: We MUST continue to organize, mobilize and fight back against Trump's anti-immigrant agenda with a greater force and we are committed to doing so.
