AUSTIN, TEXAS – Héctor Sánchez Barba, President and CEO of Mi Familia Vota, issued the following statement following the 2026 midterm elections, highlighting the organization's historic voter registration, education, and mobilization efforts across the country:
"This election marks a historic milestone for Latino civic power. Latino voters rose to the occasion, proving that our communities are not only powerful but essential in shaping American democracy. Across the nation, Latino families mobilized with determination to demand a future where they can thrive – where economic security, access to quality healthcare, the ability to live without fear, and the protection of fundamental rights are realities for all.
"This achievement is the result of relentless, years-long organizing, building trust, mobilizing neighborhoods, registering voters, and holding candidates accountable to our communities' priorities. Through our work, we have empowered Latino voters with the tools, resources, and information necessary to drive the change our families deserve.
"At Mi Familia Vota, we are incredibly proud of the work our organizers, canvassers, volunteers, and community partners accomplished this election cycle. With the largest field operation in the nation, and through our Por lo Nuestro campaign and our nonpartisan Voz en Acción civic education initiative, as well as the launch of Nubi one month ago, our bilingual, AI-powered civic participation coach, we were able to reach record numbers of Latino voters empowered to make their voice heard.
"Our teams across eight battleground states (North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Texas, Colorado, Arizona, Nevada and California) worked tirelessly to reach voters in their neighborhoods, at their doors, and in their communities. We employed local leaders and invested in culturally relevant, bilingual outreach, including developing innovative communications technology, providing trusted voting information, and working to overcome barriers that have historically prevented Latino communities from fully participating in our elections.
"Yesterday’s historic turnout and progressive victories send a clear message: Latino voters delivered a resounding rebuke of the MAGA movement. Our communities delivered a decisive rejection of extremism, proving that sustained investment in grassroots organizing yields real results. Latino political power is on the rise and Latinos are a driving force, shaping this nation’s policies, priorities, and future every single day, not just on Election Day.
"This election was also a reminder of what is at stake for Latino families. Our communities continue to face rising costs, attacks on immigrant families, threats to voting rights, and policies that undermine our democracy and economic security. These challenges will not disappear after Election Day, and neither will our commitment to confronting them.
"To every organizer who knocked on doors, every volunteer who made phone calls, every community partner who helped us reach more families, and every Latino voter who made their voice heard: this moment belongs to you.
"Mi Familia Vota’s commitment extends far beyond a single election. We will persist in registering voters, empowering our communities, defending voting rights, and ensuring elected officials are accountable at all levels of government. Investing in Latino communities strengthens and secures the future of our democracy.
"Our message is clear: We are united in our resolve to expand Latino civic participation and deliver meaningful progress for our communities. Together, we will shape the future we deserve.”
