WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to President Donald Trump's expected remarks this evening regarding the 2020 election, Mi Familia Vota President and CEO Hector Sanchez Barba issued the following statement:

"Tonight, Donald Trump is once again attempting to undermine confidence in our elections by reviving the same false claims about the 2020 election that have been repeatedly rejected by the courts, election officials, cybersecurity experts, and even his own Attorney General. The 2020 election was one of the most secure in American history, and there is no credible evidence of widespread voter fraud. Trump’s repeated attacks on election integrity are not about protecting voting; they are about convincing Americans to distrust election results whenever they do not serve his political interests. Every eligible voter should know our elections are secure and overseen by dedicated public servants, and they should have confidence that their vote counts.

“Donald Trump faces growing rejection from Latino voters with 66% now disapproving of his job performance. These attacks are part of a much larger effort to weaken our democracy and silence the growing political power of Black, Latino, and other communities of color. As our communities become an increasingly powerful force in American elections, we continue to see coordinated efforts to make voting harder through voter suppression laws, attacks on the Voting Rights Act, partisan redistricting, burdensome proof-of-citizenship requirements, voter roll purges, intimidation, and relentless misinformation designed to discourage participation. We must stand up, protect our right to vote, and demand accountability from those who threaten it.”
