Anita is the Dallas organizer for Mi Familia Vota. She was born in Germany to a Peruvian mother and Venezuelan father. She lived in Perú for the first part of her childhood but moved to the United States when she was seven. She grew up in Garland, TX and studied Sociology at the University of Texas at Dallas, focusing on immigrants and immigration, indigenous organizing in South America and bilingual education in the Andes. She has since worked in immigration non-profits and as a bilingual pre-K teacher. She joined Mi Familia Vota in February 2018 and has been working on growing the youth leadership program in Dallas, as well as immigration advocacy and general civic engagement work.
Through the work she’s doing at Mi Familia Vota, she hopes to empower the youth, immigrant and Latinx communities of Dallas to use their political power to advocate for themselves and their loved ones and build toward justice, equality and liberation.
