When Will Trump Apologize For El Paso Hate Crime?
Washington D.C. – Today marks the one-year anniversary since a gunman opened fire at a busy Walmart store, ultimately killing 23 people and leaving another 23 wounded.
Héctor Sánchez Barba, Executive Director and CEO of Mi Familia Vota released the following statement to mark the one year anniversary of this horrific crime:
“We stand with the families of El Paso and commit to stop this hate. Whether it’s Trump’s negligent pandemic response that is killing Latinos, or his racist rhetoric that led to the El Paso shooting, we know he is toxic for Latinos. As we take this day? to reflect on this tragedy, we must also use this time to reaffirm the need for civic action to protect our future and stop these attacks by voting Trump out of office. We know that since he got elected hate crimes against our community have increased. If the President was a decent human being he would apologize for his part in all of this. He won’t, and this is just another reason to say #BastaTrump.”
Mi Familia Vota’s mission is to build Latino political power by expanding the electorate, strengthening local infrastructures, and through year-round voter engagement. We are also training the next generation of leaders by opening opportunities through our Youth Development Programs and through our Mi Familia Vota work.
