Trump’s Anti-Immigrant Immigration Plan Undermines American Values
Mi Familia Vota rejects Trump’s anti-immigrant vision for the nation
Washington, D.C. – Mi Familia Vota rejects Trump’s anti-immigrant vision and devious immigration plan that subverts the U.S. family-based immigration systems and fails to provide immigration solutions for families in wait.
Mi Familia Vota released the following statement:
“President Trump has put forth an immigration proposal that dismisses the immigration turmoil his administration has already enacted. His announcement comes on the heels of a fourth death of a migrant child in U.S. custody. Since the onset of his term, President Trump has made clear that he seeks to end family-based immigration and change and reduce legal migration through any means possible. Both his methods and objectives undermine our national values and have since resulted in worldwide condemnation, particularly over the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” family separation policies. The President and his supporters have no perception of family values or human dignity.
“President Trump is pushing the most draconian immigration policies of our time. While he is focused on making changes that would convert our immigration system into an elitist process, thousands of migrants wait in subhuman conditions at the border, children are in detention centers, families remain separated, Dreamers remain in limbo without a pathway to citizenship, the undocumented population is in fear of deportation, and even those eligible for naturalization are seeing their options limited and delayed. The President is not creating solutions, he is creating chaos.
“We cannot allow for President Trump to successfully push an extremist agenda that defies our national interests. We call on all elected officials to reject this plan and to pass legislation focused on our immigration needs. Mi Familia Vota reasserts our commitment to educate and engage our community in advocacy efforts that will lay the foundation for mass participation in the 2020 elections.”
