Mi Familia Vota’s Reaction to Secretary Clinton’s Acceptance Speech as Candidate for President
WASHINGTON, DC — The following is a statement from Ben Monterroso, executive director of Mi Famila Vota, on Hillary Clinton’s acceptance speech as the Democratic presidential nominee.
“Tonight was a historic night. Hillary Clinton is now the first woman to accept the presidential nomination of a major political party.
“As we enter the presidential campaign, Latinos now have to decide on the kind of leadership they want for this country. On the issue of immigration, we have a candidate who allows and promotes attacks against the Latino and immigrant communities and a candidate who recognizes the challenges of a broken immigration system and has presented a platform for more humane solutions.
“And on issues of the economy, healthcare and the environment, we see the same stark contrast.
“The road to the White House goes through the Latino barrios. Our community is mobilizing and it’s ready to make history at the ballot box to help elect candidates who are committed to fight for the issues that affect our families, our communities, and our nation.
