Mi Familia Vota Endorses the New Deal for New Americans Act of 2019
Legislation seeks to eliminate roadblocks to citizenship for eligible residents, protect due process, and grow our shared prosperity.
Washington, D.C. — The New Deal for New Americans Act, legislation that would usher in new policies supporting immigrant rights and integration, was introduced today. The Act was sponsored by U.S. Representatives Grace Meng (NY), Jesús “Chuy” García (IL) and Pramila Jayapal (WA), and has been endorsed by over 65 entities supporting immigrants rights.
Mi Familia Vota issued the following statement:
We are proud to stand alongside our colleagues, elected officials, local partners, and the immigrant community to endorse the New Deal for New Americans Act. This legislation, announced by the National Partnership for New Americans and allies, reaffirms who we are as a nation by setting forth a commitment to immigrants in the form of federal resources to reduce obstacles to citizenship as well as support for the integration of immigrants and refugees into the social, cultural, economic, and civic life of our country. Passing the Act will help us fulfill our long-standing reputation for welcoming immigrants.
We thank our congressional representatives who sponsored the bill for taking action that will categorically reform our communities and our country. Welcoming immigrants is foundational to our national unity; we will be stronger when this Act is passed.
