Mi Familia Vota Condemns The Brutal Murder Of George Floyd
A Strong Reminder That We Need To Stop Police Brutality and Immediate Criminal Justice Reform
Washington D.C. – George Floyd, 46, died Monday in Minneapolis, a city he moved to in search of a better life. The last moments of his life were caught on video. While being arrested, Floyd was held down by a police officer’s knee. The video shows Floyd pleading that he cannot breathe. Then, his eyes shut and he was pronounced dead shortly after.
Hector Sanchez Barba, CEO and Executive Director of Mi Familia Vota said: “Mi Familia Vota condemns the senseless death of George Floyd with the strongest urgency possible. We stand in solidarity with all of those who fear retaliation and harm as they do their best to live their lives in these uncertain times. This is a strong reminder that we need to stop police brutality and that our country needs immediate criminal justice reform.”
