Mi Familia Vota Celebrates International Workers’ Day

Calls for Congress to support workers’ rights

(Washington, D.C.) – Mi Familia Vota joins with communities across the United States in celebration of international workers and calls on elected officials at the local, state, and federal level to protect workers’ rights by crafting and supporting policies that bolster their social and economic wellbeing.

Workers are experiencing a myriad of attacks against them, from constraining their power of collective bargaining to attempting to dismantle crucial components of the Affordable Care Act, and even foiling environmental regulations needed to guarantee the health and safety of their work and home environments.

Working people are the backbone of our communities; Congress and elected officials at every level of government must act on their behalf. Local elections are occurring in several states right now – it is critical that voters fight back against the attacks on workers by voting for candidates who will support stronger labor rights as well as other legislation that keeps workers and their families healthy. The 2020 elections are also fast approaching and we will continue to mobilize our communities to vote for a fair and equitable future at every election.
