MFV Works to Build Latino Political Power in Florida

In preparation for the 2020 Census and the presidential elections, Mi Familia Vota is excited to announce the roll-out of its new strategic engagement plan to advance Latino civic participation and immigrant rights in Florida and at the national level.

Mi Familia Vota’s strategy includes expanding voter registration operations in Florida, uplifting Latino needs at the state and national level through the infrastructure that we’ve built in areas with the highest Latino growth rates. Our work in the state will be strengthened through our local efforts (with offices in Orlando, Kissimmee, and Tampa), a new focus on South Florida, all of which will be extended statewide through our legislative visits, digital footprint, our total electoral impact in Florida, and more. We are dedicated to elevating the issues in Florida to a national level to best support our community.

We are confident that under the fresh, bold leadership of longtime Florida community member, Soraya Marquez, as the Florida state director, MFV will strengthen all of its capacities. Marquez is joined by coordinators who were also instrumental in the voter registration of over 100,000 Floridians since our offices first opened here in 2012. We look forward to continue growing our teams and expanding our operations across the Sunshine State.

Across all the states and cities we work in, we are re-imagining and revitalizing our voter registration work around issues critical to the Latino community and strengthening our efforts on advocacy issues based in education and support for our community. We are particularly concerned about engaging the Puerto Rican community so that they can in turn, help the Island through their civic involvement in Florida.

Our ground operations have catapulted us as a national leader in Latino civic engagement, a role that we will continue to hold with deep appreciation for our community’s trust and commitment to an even better future.
