MFV Statement on Second Presidential Debate

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The following is a statement from Ben Monterroso, executive director of Mi Familia Vota:

“Debates are an important part of the democratic process.  They are meant to provide voters an opportunity to hear concrete policy proposals and they allow candidates to provide solutions to problems Americans face everyday. Immigration, voting rights, healthcare, the economy, the environment, and education are at the forefront of what Latino voters want to hear about.

Trump used this exercise in democracy to continue scapegoating immigrants. He continued disrespecting refugee and Muslim communities. He avoided truly apologizing for his behavior towards women. And he continued to avoid the questions that Americans demand answers to in order to evaluate his true capacity to lead our country.

Our country deserves a candidate who respects and recognizes the humanity of all Americans.

With the election less than a month away, Mi Familia Vota will continue to register all eligible Latino voters and then make sure they vote. The future of this country depends on it.”
