MFV Responds To Senate Confirmation Of Amy Coney Barrett

We Must Flip The Senate And Vote Trump Out Of Office

Washington, DC – Hector Sanchez Barba, Executive Director and CEO of Mi Familia Vota, released the following statement on the United States Senate confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett, President Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court. The Senate’s confirmation took place even after millions have already voted in the 2020 elections:

“At a time of high unemployment and a pandemic sweeping the country, Senate Republicans chose to focus their time on stacking the court with an ultra conservative Judge instead of focusing on the urgent needs of working people. With nearly 60 million people have already voted, Republicans still jammed through the confirmation of a new Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett. Barrett’s lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court swings it in an extreme direction outside of the values of the nation. This is a call to action to all people of conscience. We must win the Senate and White House this cycle; we must fight to protect healthcare, reproductive rights and freedom, voting rights, LGBTQ equality, immigrant justice, criminal justice, disability rights, and all other issues that make a difference in the lives of working people. This is why Mi Familia Vota is building political power all over the country, to ensure that we elect people who will stand up for our policy priorities and prevent Congress from confirming judges who will remove critical rights from our community.  ”

Mi Familia Vota’s mission is to build Latino political power by expanding the electorate, strengthening local infrastructures, and through year-round voter engagement. We are also training the next generation of leaders by opening opportunities through our Youth Development Programs and our Mi Familia Vota work.
