MFV Nevada Mourns the Passing of Assemblyman Tyrone Thompson
Cecia Alvarado, Nevada state director for Mi Familia Vota issued the following statement:
“Assemblyman Thompson was a dedicated public servant and champion for our needs in the Silver State. During this legislative cycle, he was a leading supporter of legislation that would block the citizenship question from the 2020 Census and was also working to pass a novel bill to create a database on school discipline, in an effort to close the school-to-jail pipeline in Nevada. He was well known in the state for promoting inclusive values, often crafting new opportunities to serve the most underrepresented populations through his work.
“Nevadans deserve elected officials who share his commitment to our communities. We will honor his legacy by continuing Assemblyman Thompson’s work.”
A candle-light vigil will be held in honor of Assemblyman Thompson May 7 at 8:00 pm on the legislative steps.
