MFV Nevada Commends Governor Sisolak for supporting Office of New Americans
Yesterday, Nevada legislators held a hearing on SB 538, a bill that would establish an Office of New Americans.
Cecia Alvarado, Nevada state director for Mi Familia Vota, issued the following statement:
The Office of New Americans will connect immigrants, refugees, and new Americans to other state services and programs, fostering overall integration and creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere in the state of Nevada. Mi Familia Vota endorses all efforts to support the immigrant community and create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for the Silver State. We recognize the value and contribution of immigrants and their role in positively shaping our communities in Nevada. We thank Governor Sisolak for spearheading these endeavors, as well as those who stand with us in support of this Office.
Mi Familia Vota is a national civic engagement organization that unites Latino, immigrant, and allied communities to promote social and economic justice through citizenship workshops, voter registration, and voter participation.
