MFV Applauds House Vote Rebuking President Trump’s National Emergency Declaration
In a 245-182 vote, the House passed a resolution introduced by Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) to repeal President Trump’s national emergency declaration.
Mi Familia Vota issued the following statement:
There is no national security emergency at the border, a fact that 245 members of the House rightly supported today. Just yesterday, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers joined two border states in withdrawing his state troops from the U.S. – Mexico border, and 58 former top national security officers also released a letter arguing that President Trump is wrong regarding his border security claims. Our national resources should not be used to prop up Trump’s extremist ideology and actions. We have to stop a president who is willing to make false claims to access billions of our dollars for an unnecessary and wasteful wall; the Senate must do what’s right for our country and end this charade by passing this resolution when their time comes to vote.
