Civic Engagement is a Family Affair!
Civic engagement doesn’t have to be an activity you do alone. It can involve your family, friends, and neighbors!
During our May 11th Tampa citizenship workshop, our MFV Florida state director Nancy Batista was joined by her family to help eligible residents take the next step to become citizens! She was joined by her daughter, uncle, sister, nephew, nieces, brother, cousin and mom – everyone is invited!
The citizenship workshop was designed to assist eligible residents about the naturalization process, requirements, and answer any community questions. We also provide the assistance of an immigration attorney to guide applicants. Nancy’s family traveled for 2 hours from Orlando to Tampa to help make copies, distribute helpful information, and provide application guidance for those in attendance.
“It felt great knowing we were working together as a family helping individuals in our communities to achieve one of their dreams in starting the citizenship process,” said Maria Cardenas, Nancy’s younger sister.
Her family felt proud and excited to be able to help fellow Floridian residents. “It feels great to be useful and be able to help others and feel supported,” said Zobeida Sosa, Nancy’s mother.
Nancy’s family is motivation and inspiration for the rest of our families. When we’re all civically engaged, our community thrives. Thank you, Nancy and family!
