Washington, D.C. – In response to the presidential election results Hector Sanchez Barba, President and CEO of Mi Familia Vota released the following statement:

“Today is a dark day for our democracy and a difficult time for our families. But it is also a time to reflect on our future, strategize and unite to keep fighting for what is right for our nation, as we have done in the past.

This is a time for fostering unity within our communities and continuing organizing. We are proud of the powerful infrastructure that we have built all over the nation to strengthen our democracy, fight extremism and to continue creating Latino Political Power and use that power to hold all politicians accountable.

The work of Mi Familia Vota is needed more than ever.  And we will be there, on the front lines, fighting for our community and democracy. We stand firm with our immigrant families and will continue to organize and fight any attacks on them. Thanks to all the Mi Familia Vota teams for all the work on the front lines, day to day, to make this a better and stronger democracy.

We must now focus on accountability, and our policy agenda clearly outlines our policy priorities, ensuring that the new administration is held accountable for their actions. As we move forward, we are firme en nuestra misión to make sure that the voices of our Latino families are not just heard but that they take center stage. • Expanded Operations to Georgia and North Carolina: This marks the inaugural year that we are actively involved in presidential election efforts in Georgia and North Carolina. Our focus is on mobilizing voters in these key states, recognizing their crucial role in shaping the national landscape.
    • Partnerships for Change: We launched a nonpartisan initiative in collaboration with the Drum Major Institute, focused on enhancing civic participation and empowering Black and Brown communities to strengthen political power.
    • Reproductive Freedom Ballot Initiatives: In Arizona, Colorado, Florida and Nevada, we joined campaigns to fight for the affirmative right to an abortion. In Arizona and Nevada, our teams educated Latino voters on vital ballot measures, working to safeguard our community's interests.
