WASHINGTON, DC –Mi Familia Vota today condemned a move by the Supreme Court that allows Texas Republicans’ gerrymandered district map for the 2026 midterms. The Supreme Court’s decision vacates a prior federal panel ruling that had found, as written by a Trump-appointed federal judge, “Substantial evidence…that Texas racially gerrymandered the 2025 Map.”

Dayana Iza, Texas State Director for Mi Familia Vota, issued the following statement:
“The Supreme Court failed today. This map is intended to suppress Latino votes and voices. Mi Familia Vota in Texas will redouble our efforts to educate voters to make our voices heard. We are among the plaintiffs in this litigation alongside our allies like MALDEF because gerrymandering in Texas – for years – has sought to dilute and suppress the votes and voices of Latino voters. As I said when the federal panel ruled, in a state that is 40 percent Hispanic we should have greater representation, not less. We will continue to defend the rights of our citizens and to ensure our community's power is felt at the ballot box.”

Héctor Sánchez-Barba, President and CEO of Mi Familia Vota, issued the following statement:
“The Supreme Court is ignoring years of precedent that had established that racial gerrymandering violates the rights of American citizens. Trying to rig an election because your policies are unpopular undermines our democracy, and the Court failed to provide a proper check and balance. Mi Familia Vota has proudly stood as a plaintiff in today’s case along with MALDEF and other allies and we will continue to explore legal options to defend the rights of Latino voters.”
