WASHINGTON, DC – Héctor Sánchez Barba, President and CEO of Mi Familia Vota, issued a statement after the House passed the SAVE America Act on Wednesday afternoon:
“At a time when Donald Trump talks openly about running for a third term, and his administration continues to undo our democracy, the House and Senate are voting to give his out-of-control government the tools to take over our elections.
“Trump’s former senior advisor, Steve Bannon, is already saying they will send ICE agents to surround polling sites in the upcoming elections, using the same debunked claims about voter fraud that they have no evidence for.
“Let’s be clear: Trump and his Republican allies are saying the quiet part out loud. They’re pushing to nationalize elections and pass the SAVE America Act as part of their plan to suppress our voices, intimidate our community and rig the 2026 midterms before we even get to vote.
“Call your Senators and tell them to stand up to this concerted attack on our democracy. Mi Familia Vota will double our efforts to work with the Latino community and to empower our voters to stand up and defend our democracy with the power of their vote.”
