WASHINGTON, DC – Mi Familia Vota President and CEO Hector Sanchez Barba called for a real deal on health care, as millions stand to lose coverage:
Hector Sanchez Barba, President and CEO of Mi Familia Vota, issued the following statement:
“Any deal to reopen the government that does not address the soaring cost of health care, the need to extend affordable care tax credits, and a rollback to the steep cuts made to health care in Donald Trump’s One Big Ugly Bill misses the point. A health care coverage crisis is looming, and we have a federal government more focused on tax cuts for billionaires. We want to see the government reopened, we want to see SNAP nutrition benefits getting to those in need, and we want to see normalcy return to our nation’s airports. At the same time, Mi Familia Vota continues to call on elected officials to find a way to work together to do all of that, while allowing a real debate and a vote on health care. Republicans control the House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate, and the White House, and this week Donald Trump even went to the Supreme Court to deny contingency funds for SNAP beneficiaries. Their priorities are clear, but so are ours. Mi Familia Vota will continue to educate voters to get informed, and to hold their elected officials accountable at the ballot box at every opportunity.”
