WASHINGTON, D.C. – Mi Familia Vota President and CEO Hector Sanchez Barba issued the following statement on the fourth anniversary of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs, reflecting on the lasting impact following the overturning of Roe v. Wade:

“Four years after the Supreme Court’s disastrous decision in Dobbs, millions of women continue to live with the consequences of politicians inserting themselves into deeply personal medical decisions that should be made by patients and their doctors.

“Across the country, we have seen extreme politicians push abortion bans, restrict access to essential reproductive healthcare, and criminalize decisions that belong to women and their families. The consequences remain present: What was once a constitutional right has been replaced in many states by fear, uncertainty, and government interference that has put women's autonomy, health, lives and economic security at risk.

“This anniversary is a reminder that rights are not guaranteed simply because they exist today. They must be protected, defended, and expanded. Reproductive freedom is about more than healthcare. It is about dignity, autonomy, economic opportunity, and the freedom to determine our own futures.

“Congress must act to codify the protections of Roe v. Wade and restore the freedoms that millions of Americans lost. Reproductive freedom is not a special interest issue; it is a fundamental right. At Mi Familia Vota, we reaffirm our commitment to advocating for the rights of all women.”
