Mi Familia Vota: Reversing Fuel Efficiency and Clean Cars Standards Is An Attack on the Pockets and Health of American Families

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The following is a statement from Ben Monterroso, executive director of Mi Familia Vota, on the announcement by the Trump Administration reversing fuel efficiency and clean cars standards:

“Donald Trump ran an electoral campaign promising that as President he would protect working Americans without ever providing concrete plans on how he would accomplish that. Unfortunately, today’s decision to roll back fuel-efficiency and clean cars standards is another indication of this failed promise. His decision is an attack on the pockets and health of our families.

“American families will have to now pay thousands of dollars more every year at the gas pump in order to benefit corporate profits and greed from Big Oil companies. Higher levels of pollution will continue to disproportionally impact the health of Latino communities with devastating effects to the well-being of millions of families.

“We will continue to organize and rally to stop the Trump Administration’s assault on our communities through civic participation and the power of our vote.”
